Phrases with "cut"


Phrasal verbs can be confusing, especially when changing a simple preposition can completely change the meaning! The word "cut" can be paired with several prepositions to make a number of different phrasal verbs. Make sure you get them right!

Cut it out - stop it
This is an informal phrase used to ask someone to stop doing something.
"He kept bothering me, so I asked him to cut it out".

Cut back - to reduce
"I really should cut back on the calories so that I can loose weight".

Cut in - to interrupt
"It's really not polite to cut in when someone else is speaking".
