Grammar: When to use "much" and "many"

Both "much" and "many" are used to describe quantity, that is, the amount of something.

Much is used with uncountable nouns. These are things that you can't count on their own, but require some sort of container.

Many is used with countable nouns. These are things that you can count individually.

For example: How much water do you have? How many bottles of water do you have?
